Who are West of England Works?
West of England Works is led by Weston College. We are one of many organisations working in partnership to support people who have difficulties accessing work. The programme is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.
The West of England Works (WoEW) project aims to support people who face multiple and complex barriers to becoming work ready, secure sustainable employment or identify appropriate training across the South West of England area.
What can we offer you?
We recognise that one organisation may not be able to meet all the needs of one person so, with a range of partnership organisations, we work together to enable people to move closer to employment or to get into the work or progressive training that interests them. Together we can support people on a journey from social exclusion to participation that is meaningful for them.
The project offers a flexible programme which will support people to achieve their personal employment, training or volunteering goals. This support will be different for each participant but may include:
- 1:1 support
- Group sessions
- Periods of supported work placements
- Extended volunteer placements
- Support with applying for jobs and interview preparation
- Help preparing a CV, building confidence and recognising transferable skills
- Other help as required to become work ready
Participants will also have access to the wider Barton Hill Settlement services including;
- Family Support with the Family Centre & SPAN
- Benefit, budgeting and debt advice with BOOST
- Business Start up/Self employment advice with BOOST
- Supported Job-clubs
- Community engagement with The Network & Community Navigator Projects
- Lunch Clubs
- Community Events
- Become a member of our Community Consultation Group
