On 1 February 2020 Barton Hill Settlement and Wellspring Healthy Living Centre merged to become Wellspring Settlement. Our vision is to bring together all the strengths and skills of the two organisations to provide more for our local communities.
Wellspring Settlement enables our community to actively participate in positive, life-affirming activities. We offer a unique space for residents of Barton Hill and the wider area to celebrate, learn, create, develop, relax, socialise and play. From young people to the more mature; from new residents of our locality to those who have lived here all of their lives are all welcome.
BLACK LIVES MATTER - WELLSPRING SETTLEMENT STATEMENT
We stand in solidarity with the black members of our community and those fighting everywhere for equality and justice. We are with you. We believe that Black Lives Matter.
The history and legacy in Bristol and the whole of the UK continues to present us with challenges. We understand that the pain, anger and anguish is shared within our community.
We also know that people from Black and other Ethnic Minorities are disproportionately affected by Coronavirus and support the call for real action to be taken to understand and reduce the effects of this.
We will be outspoken, loud and visible alongside our community and about where we stand as an organisation. We constantly strive to improve on how we can offer a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We always want to do better and will be reflecting on how to do so as an organisation. We are here to provide services and support to the people that need it most and welcome any feedback on how we can do this more effectively.

To access this support call
Our call centre is open 10am – 3pm from Monday to Thursday and 10am – 1pm on Fridays.
You can also call this number to refer someone else. Contact details will be taken and individuals will then be called back.
These vital services are being delivered with the support of an amazing group of volunteers. If you would like to support this work please contact the telephone number above to find out how you can help. We’d love to hear from you!
Wellspring Settlement delivers a parenting programme called Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities and during this difficult lockdown period we are aware that parenting is unusually hard so we have put together some helpful information. You can access that information here.
Community Action Support
In addition to the crisis services we are providing, we are also keen to do what we can to support community action and local responses. Currently we are supporting local networks, working to develop digital skill sharing forums and adapting our community organising and other training to be more accessible over Zoom.
If you would like to have a chat about our support for local community work, share ideas for how we can better support community action in the area or have any general queries or questions please contact Alex North on either email@example.com or 07928 813790.
Covid survey report
From just before Coronavirus Lockdown, we have been engaging with those in the local Lawrence Hill Community, alongside those who access our services across East Bristol, to gather information via a survey about community needs during the Coronavirus pandemic and how we can best provide support. This first report, written in collaboration with the University of Bristol, is based on the responses gathered through the early period of lockdown in March 2020. Find it here:
