Family & SPAN Services
Barton Hill Settlement Family Services provides a range of free services for all parents & carers of children of all ages, including those with disabilities or special educational needs.
Parents and carers can pop into the family centre and meet the staff or refer themselves to any service by contacting the family services team on 0117 9556971 ext 161 or email email@example.com or speak to any of our qualified support workers
“Stay & Play” sessions
Play sessions for parents & carers of children under 5. You and your child will find a great selection of toys, equipment and activities to encourage creative, physical and imaginary play both indoors and outdoors. We also have a lovely sensory room for children with additional needs.
Current sessions include:
- Children under 5’s
- Babies’ up to 18 months

The Nurturing Programme - This programme is delivered by Wendy and Shona - aims to help adults understand and manage feelings and behaviour and become more positive and nurturing in their relationships with children and each other. It encourages an approach to relationships that gives children and adults an emotionally healthy start for their lives and learning. The next course will start May 2020. Strengthening families Strengthening communities - This programme is delivered by Sally Williams & Mowleed Farah provides an opportunity for parents to explore parenting issues in a supportive setting. Incredible Years programme – The Incredible Years course focusses on building positive parenting skills. It provides tools and strategies to encourage positive behaviour, build relationships and manage conflict. This programme runs between 22nd January and May 14 2020.

1:1 support meetings –
Confidential meetings with a family support worker to discuss issues affecting your lives and signposting to specialist services.
Home visits –
We can meet you in the home to share information about children’s centre services and local services for families of children 0-5years
Information Advice and Guidance
This service offers you support in returning to work, training, identifying appropriate childcare. Help you calculate your entitlement to benefits and tax credits etc.
