The Volunteer Unit

Volunteer for Change is a project within Barton Hill Settlement. It is part of the “People’s Hive”, the department that also includes the Community Work Team and the Time Bank project.

Volunteer for Change has two projects: the Volunteer Unit and Time for Action. Both aim to improve the quality of volunteering opportunities, make access to them much easier and make sure volunteering is an uplifting experience for all local residents.

Volunteer Unit

The Volunteer Unit matches local people with volunteering opportunities and works with local projects to ensure that volunteers get the support they need.

Time for Action

Time for Action is a community time bank, a project which allows people to swap their skills and help one another. Participants are involved in everything from DIY to gardening, to listening to learning an instrument.

Volunteer for Change encourages volunteers to play a key role in the development of policy, strategic development and management within organisations. Volunteers are local citizens who know what they want to change for the better, for themselves, their children’s lives, and in turn, their community!
