Services for Older People

Here are some of the services that we provide for people over 50.

Older People's Forum

A local forum for people aged over 50. We meet every two months at the Settlement to discuss local issues of concern affecting older people. The next meeting is the AGM, on Wednesday, Sept 8th, 2010 at the Settlement - ALL WELCOME!

New members are always welcome! For more information, contact Lucy Touray in the Community Work Team.

Over 50s Day Trips

We run three trips per year for local people aged over 50. The destinations are decided by a group of local volunteers who meet to organise the trips, and help out on trip days.

The group are always looking for new volunteers and ideas. They hold their first meeting of each year in March to start planning the annual programme and the trips are then advertised locally. Keep an eye on the website for upcoming trips!

Shopping Buses

We run two shopping buses every week on Tuesday and Friday mornings. The shopping buses are run by volunteers. They pick up local older people from their homes, take them to a supermarket and return them to their home after they have done their shopping.

The bus trips cost £1.50 (per round trip). If you would like to use the shopping bus please ring Maggie or Lucy on (0117) 955 6971 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (0117) 955 6971      end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Lunch Clubs

Our lunches are especially popular with older people, although all ages are welcome. Click here for more details.
