The People's Hive
|
The People's Hive is the community involvement
department at the Settlement which offers local people three ways to
participate in their community and bring about change, through the
Community Work Team, the Time Bank and the Volunteer Unit. |

Courses and Education
|
A wide range of courses in dozens of subjects are
available from the Workshop Project - including computer courses (basic
and intermediate), Reiki, cookery, languages, arts, etc. |

Advice and Guidance
|
The Workshop offers information, advice and guidance to all adults on learning opportunities in the local area and across the city. |

Computer Room |
Also part of the Workshop Project, we offer Open Access sessions most days, in addition to many computer-related courses and training.

The CAAAD Project
|
CAAAD (Community Action Around Alcohol and Drugs) is a community development project within the Settlement. The project was set up in May 1999 by a group of local people
as a response to the increasing concern being expressed in the community over
the issue of drug and alcohol misuse in the area. |

The Over 50s Project |
The Over 50s Project aims to assist, encourage, support and enable groups and individuals. The project aims to make life for local elders more enjoyable and more purposeful, and addresses some of the issues around health and well-being, nutritional and physical needs, benefits entitlement, housing and accommodation, and access to information and services. Activities and services include a lunch club, shopping bus, courses, keep fit, and history group.

Services for Young People |
The Settlement runs the junior youth club at the nearby Dugout Club. There is also a wide range of activities during the summer holidays. The junior youth project also provides after school activities such as an art club and drama club.

Young Children and Families |
The Family Playcentre has developed a range of quality services in response to local families' needs, with the aim of providing something for everyone. They include; parent groups, reaching out groups based in the community, theme days for parents and children together, a pre-school and crèche facilities. Community Work |
The Community Work Team aims to:
The team currently supports a variety of tenant groups, community groups and activities. For example, supporting a campaign for a pelican crossing, supporting the setting up of a new residents' group in a particular street, family coach trips and summer camp, a weekly shopping bus, a group for people with a disability and loads more!

Room Hire |
The Settlement has a number of rooms available for hire, by the hour or for longer periods, at reasonable rates. If you need a room for anything, from a meeting for a few people to a party for 150, we may be able to help.
