Photo Gallery - Volunteers' Week

June 6th-11th, 2005.

Volunteers' Week

2005 is the Year of the Volunteer and there were lots of things happening in Volunteers’ Week.

On 3rd June there was an all day event at the Settlement for the whole community which was a tremendous success. At the Community Open Day different projects from the local area set up stalls advertising the work they do in the area and signing up new volunteers. There was a barbecue and lots of fun and games and over 300 sausages and burgers were eaten!

The following week culminated in a big party on the Friday night with eclectic Bristol band Baraka providing the entertainment. They’ve got a diverse line up with a master drummer from Ghana, a guitarist from Zambia, a Dominican bassist and an Irishman on drums and sax. The atmosphere was great and lots of volunteers and local residents danced the night away.

Throughout Volunteers’ Week certificates were presented to those people who make a difference in their community. We’d like to say a big “thank you” to all Volunteer for Change’s volunteers who have made a real difference over the last year.
