Photo Gallery - "Learning Curve" Weekend

June 24th-26th, 2005. 

A fantastic weekend was had by all at this training event for volunteers from the Settlement and surrounding area.  The event was a residential weekend, at Pontins.

41 volunteers attended, and they were split into 4 groups, called The Swans, The Kingfishers, The Peacocks and the Flamingos.

The training modules were:

• The Shield Exercise,

• Team Building, D

• Diversity in the Community,

• Self Evaluation,

• Overall Evaluation.

While the volunteers attended the training sessions, 22 children were looked after by the fantastic Playcentre staff, and 13 older children were looked after by the Community Work Team and youth workers.  We also had, for the first time, 4 members from the Youth Forum.  The older children's events included aeroball, zip wire, abseiling and climbing.

This event was a great example of all the projects at Barton Hill Settlement working together - and as for next year the, Volunteers' Forum are now making it their priority to raise money to make this happen.
