A new group in the Family Playcentre was launched on May 11th, 2004, and is going very well. The aims of the group are:
To provide a place to meet new people and make friends in an informal atmosphere,
To support the group's use of English through using it in a safe setting,
To provide opportunities for learning about others' food, songs, customs and cultures,
To provide a safe place for people to meet, where they know they will not face discrimination or racism.
Over 16 families came to the launch from countries including: Somalia, Sudan, Algeria, Japan and Rwanda. Lunch was provided by Dhek Bhal. Bwerani toy library came, and many of the parents were pleased to find books with dual language texts.
