The Over 50s Project 


The Over 50s Project provides services and activities for anyone over the age of 50 living in the Community at Heart area (i.e. Barton Hill, part of Lawrence Hill, part of Redfield and The Dings).

If you are interested in any of the groups in this leaflet, or if you are interested in helping to establish a group, please contact Lucy Touray or Gee Gourlay in the Over 50s Project at Barton Hill Settlement.

Various other groups, activities and events run throughout the year for over 50s at different  venues within the New Deal area.  Help with transport is available, as well as information about other groups, activities and services.

These are the services and activities currently on offer from the Settlement's Over 50s Project.

"50+U", Over 50s Lunch Club

Main Hall, Barton Hill Settlement

Every Thursday,
12:00-2:00,
£3.00

In the Settlement’s Main Hall, a three course meal is served while you meet new people and have a chat.  A very friendly environment welcoming residents from the Community at Heart area.

Community Lunch Main Hall, Barton Hill Settlement

Every Sunday,
12:00-2:00,
£3 (£2 children)

All welcome, from Great Grandparents to their Great Grandchildren. 
 

History Group Somerville Room, Barton Hill Settlement

Every Monday,
2:00 - 4:00,

Share your memories and discuss present day issues in this informal, friendly group.

Shopping Bus From your door (or nearby) to ASDA or Tesco

We also have a bus trip to the Sunday Fruit Market once a month.

Every Tuesday morning to ASDA, Bedminster and Tesco, Eastville.

Every Friday morning to Tesco.

We'll try to pick you up and drop you off as near to your home as possible.  Shopping destinations are agreed with bus users - any ideas welcome! 

Ear Acupuncture "The Front Room" at the Settlement. Thursday afternoons, 1:00-4:00

Experience Ear Acupuncture.  It involves up to 5 needles, placed in different parts of the ear, helping to relieve pain, stress, anxiety, allergies, improve circulation, etc.  The tutor works towards individual needs in a relaxed environment.
 

Somali Older Women's Lunch Club Main Hall, Barton Hill Settlement. Every other Friday, 11:30-2:00
Cost - to be confirmed.

Run by volunteers, with support from the Over 50s Project cook and community workers from Barton Hill Settlement and Black Development Agency. This group provides the opportunity for local older Somali women to come together, enjoy food, share life experiences, and prayer.
