Open Access sessions  User in Open Access session

What is Open Access?

Open Access sessions are times when you can come along to the Computer Room at Barton Hill Settlement to use the computers for whatever you like.  You may want to practice for a course, send some emails, print some photos, or surf the Internet. The choice is yours.

When are the sessions?

These are our Open Access sessions:

Monday

10:00 - 5:00

Tuesday

1:00 - 5:00

Wednesday

12:00 - 5:00

Thursday

12:00 - 7:00

Friday

9:00 - 12:00

How much does it cost?

You can either pay for your Open Access by the hour (£1 per hour), or take a season ticket (from £5 per year, for as much time as you want).  (Not surprisingly, most of our users go for the season ticket, as it's such good value.)

These are the different season ticket rates available:

Individual (reduced) £7 per year

You qualify for the reduced rate if you are:

  • a resident of the Community at Heart area,

  • in receipt of a means-tested benefit or state pension,

  • under 16

Individual (full) £12 per year
Family (reduced) £10 per year
Family (full) £20 per year

What about help?

There is always help on hand during Open Access sessions.  The amount of support you can expect will obviously vary according to how many other people are using the Computer Room, but if you do get stuck, we can usually sort the problem out with you pretty quickly.

What about young people?

Children are always welcome. Anyone under 8 must be accompanied by an adult, and 8-14 year olds can use the Computer Room once a parent or guardian has completed a form giving their contact details, consent, etc.

How do I book?

Although you don't always need to book, it's a good idea to do so, as we are quite often full.  Just phone us on (0117) 955 6971 to make sure of a computer.
