Statement of Service (Information Advice
and Guidance)

The Workshop at Barton Hill Settlement offers information, advice and guidance to all adults on learning opportunities in the local area and across the city.
Our aim is to provide a friendly, informal, high quality, individual service according to each person’s need, which will support successful learning for all adults.
We offer:
Individual and group information and advice sessions on available courses,
On-going support during learning in the Workshop,
Assistance with fees and expenses for education and training,
Regular opportunities for feedback on our services,
One-to-one guidance interviews for adults wanting more in-depth support.
We can provide:
A confidential service when required,
Local learning information,
Basic information about national and regional learning opportunities,
Detailed information about finance for study or training,
Information about qualifications and accreditation,
Careers and occupational information,
Referral and sign posting for additional support needed to other organisations.
Much of this information is available for you to take away. We will help you get the information in the format you require, e.g. large print or in other languages.

What we can expect from you:
Prompt attendance for appointments,
You contact us to cancel any appointments you are unable to attend,
You complete a feedback form for us about our Information, Advice and Guidance service.
If you have a compliment or a complaint please let us know. There is a Comments Book on the Information Desk on the second floor. You will also be given a feedback form to complete.
A copy of our complaints procedure is available on request. In the first instance complaints will be dealt with by the Adult Learning Manager within 5 working days. In addition, as a final step, complaints can be made to the Guidance Council (tel: 01962 878 340).
