Aims and Values

The Aims of Barton Hill Settlement are:

  1. To reduce isolation, including dealing with the causes as well as the effects of isolation.

  2. To achieve 100% self sufficiency and profitability in 15 years, i.e. by 2022.

The Values, which underpin everything that we do, are:

Respect

We will treat with respect all people involved with, or affected by, the delivery of the aims relating to our statement of purpose.

Interdependency

We understand that the Barton Hill Settlement exists because of local need for the activities that we deliver and that, provided we continue to deliver these activities, local people will want us to exist.

Accountability

Through our management structure and monitoring and evaluation procedures, we will be managed by local people, and will be responsive and accountable to them.

Equality

We will strive to eliminate disadvantage, discrimination and deprivation.

Quality

Based on our belief that local people deserve the best, we will endeavour to maintain, and continually strive to improve, the high quality of all that we do.

Independence

Our status as an organisation, which is independent of, for example, any one funder, allows our trustees (Directors) true control to meet local needs. This independence allows the organisation a longer-term perspective from which to plan, and a greater accountability to the area, which we serve.
